These are some of the things you will
need to know before you begin your search for a
metal building.
First, measure the area where you wish to
place your storage building. Consider the height
as well as the width and length. Are you going
to store items which require a certain height?
Think about all the items you plan to store in
the building and measure all their dimensions,
too. Will you be moving equipment in and out?
What kind of door do you need? Would double
doors be better? Will you be storing small
supplies, vehicles, furniture, boxes of items,
odd-shaped items, or large items? Will you have
sufficient space for delivery trucks or vans to
park in front of the door or doors? Once you
have written down the dimensions and other
requirements of your future building, look for a
matching plan or kit. Many different options are
available!
Don’t forget to think about light and
ventilation. How will you be using the building?
Do you need one or more windows? Cross
ventilation might be important, depending on
what you want to store and what activities you
might do in the building, such as equipment
repair or painting. Would natural light be
important? What level of security do you need?
While utility may be at the top of the list,
consider esthetics as well. Be prepared to
select among different designs and colors. You
might as well buy the most attractive metal
building that you can.
If you want a quality metal building that will
last a long time, buy galvanized steel.
Galvanized steel is regular steel coated with
zinc. Because it’s resistant to water, it’s
especially durable. Whether you need a small
storage unit or a large warehouse, you’ll get
decades of use out of a galvanized steel storage
building. Make sure that your purchase includes
a full 10- to 20-year warranty.
